About Faith
Faith is from York, PA and graduated from York County School of Technology in 2020 with a technical certificate in Architecture and Construction Management. Though she started as an International Relations major at YCP, she switched to the Biology program in 2021 and developed a strong passion for scientific research.
At YCP, Faith is a member of the Presidential Research Fellowship, a four year program that gives undergraduate students the opportunity to design and execute their own independent research project. With a particular interest in neurological disorders, she focused her research on Canavan Disease, a rare and fatal neurodegenerative condition that occurs in pediatric patients. Since 2021, she has worked closely with faculty mentor Dr. Wendy Boehmler to study the expression patterns of the Canavan Disease-associated ASPA gene using zebrafish as a model system. Through this research, along with her biology coursework, Faith has developed a strong interest in genetics and cell & molecular biology and plans to pursue a Ph.D. that reflects these interests.

Aside from research, Faith is involved in various extracurriculars at YCP. She is the current President of Tri Alpha, a national honor society for first generation students, and served as Vice President from 2022-2023. She is passionate about helping other first gen students and creating a greater sense of community on campus. She works closely with members of the executive board to organize meetings, events, and workshops to prepare first generation students for success during and beyond college.

She is the current treasurer for Tri Beta, a national biology honor society, and treasurer for the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) club. WiSE holds frequent community outreach events with the goal of introducing younger students to various STEM fields as well as events to connect and support women in STEM majors at YCP. She is also a member of the Premedical and Allied Health Society, Alpha Chi, and the recently-formed women's club soccer team (having played for 14 years prior to college).

Following undergrad, Faith is planning to pursue a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology. Long term, she is hoping to conduct research on the genetic, molecular and biochemical bases of neurological disease development and progression.
