Research Updates: Spring 2022
Sophomore Year

Throughout this semester, I continued to meet with Dr. Boehmler frequently and work on my annotated bibliography. I focused on finding journal articles that outlined the growth and development of zebrafish embryos as well as primary articles with methods for electroporation in zebrafish. Since I only had two years left to work on my research following this semester, we felt it might be best to focus on establishing proof of concept for the electroporation of zebrafish embryos since this was something that hadn't been done at YCP before. This would allow future Biology students to build off of our findings and continue working with the same technology if we were able to devise methods and conditions that led to optimal outcomes given the resources that were available at YCP.

During this time, we also briefly worked on the research proposal that will be submitted to IACUC in the fall. We focused on outlining the basics, such as the direction and purpose of this project, and will complete this in the fall once we're able to work out more of the specifics.
